Awaiting Ramsey thoughts?

I have no particular thoughts or expectations of how he'll do if appointed but I am expecting people to calling him Ramsey for most of his tenure when it is actually spelt Ramsay.

I'll call him Madge, I like that nickname.

I think potential head coach/managers are being sounded out all the time by clubs as an ongoing process. Most managers are only ever a bad run of 4-5 defeats away from the P45.

The club seems to have learned a bit since the debacle surrounding replacing CC. It took far too long regardless of the fact that Mowbray was a disaster.

Mason seemed a strange appointment, but it was beginning to look clear a couple of months ago he wasn't up to it. I'm surprised he lasted this long and with hindsight the comeback win v Swansea at the Hawthorns was probably the worst thing that happened this season. At half time he was gone.

As for Eric Ramsay, it's another leftfield appointment. Nestor could have played safer with Carrick, but all managerial replacements are gambles. I think this is a bolder move and may fit in better as they restructure the football side of the club.

Regards the Patel regime. We are still indebted to them. They are seriously hampered by FFP. They acted honorably with Mason, and i think most on here wanted him to succeed, but there will always be the idiots more invested in proving themselves right.

I hope the fan base will now get behind the club in a more positive way.

This season is purely about damage limitation and nothing else now. Finishing comfortably mid table will suit me fine.

Wondering how positive/negative many feel now?
The first time I heard mason interviewed he didn't feel very confident to me. I pushed my opinions aside and thought maybe he would let his football do the talking. He didn't. Always interesting to think he never seemed to lose the dressing room which most poor managers do. Hopefully Ramsey will speak with more authority and confidence.

I was always pleased that our midfield at one time boasted Periera, Peira, Perrea and some bloke called Pereira.

I hadn't heard of him, and have read some of the stuff out there, which seems to indicate that Marge is quite organised and pragmatic in the CC / Megson mould, which is probably what we need with the team as it is.

One thing that did stick, was where he says that (to paraphrase) when a player is on fire, give them the ball.

Which sounds better than take them off at half-time, so hopefully it is a step in the right direction. Happy to wait and see.

This. It's fine keep having a go at the fans for not giving him a chance, but positivity has to come from what we see on and off the pitch. I was quite excited about Mason, until he turned up and it just fell flat, he just didn't excite, either on or off the pitch. He didn't look confident so didn't inspire confidence.

So, I'm just as excited with Ramsay as I was with Mason, and pretty much every other manager we have brought in over the last 50 years. There is always the hope, and potential, for this to be the one and Ramsay just comes across a bit different, he exudes confidence and self belief and that excites me. He will, however, the same as all those others be judged, ultimately, on what he does on and off the pitch.

Agree with PP though, that expectations should be tempered due to where we are currently, and, provided we see signs of improvement and signs that Ramsay has a better handle on things, then that will be enough for me. Not bothered about league position, provided it doesn't get worse. We were on a downward trajectory, so staying even still will be stability.

my thoughts are that it will help if we all agree to spell his fucking name correctly.

It is RamsAy.   Just remember there are no E's in his name.

It's the reverse of remembering that the e in stationery stands for envelope, and stationary is the pose that Wildsmith takes up when a shot comes in.

Glad to help.

Looking at some of the Minnesota highlights they seem to be a combo of Pulis/Val style set piece bullying in and Darren Moore's team with Harvey Barnes super quick counters when going forwards.

One thing that's clear is they know how to shoot in Minnesota!
