My expectations

Its inevitable that we will lose one or 2 of the better players before the window slams shut. Hopefully a few spurs loaners will plug the gaps.

Expected us to flirt with the top 8 all season, hoping the I will be proven wrong.

I’m hoping Phillips can bring some of that leadership, and that we get a bit more drive and determination with having Dike and Heggebø back.

I really hope we can pull some leadership for the middle out of somewhere in the next few weeks!

Don’t expect much improvement on last year. Few unknown additions but appear to be playing the same way and have the same frailties. 7th-15th.

I think the quality of the squad will see us finish from anywhere between 6th and 14th. I have practically zero expectations of us being promoted.

I think we still need: Full backs to challenge or take the place of both Furlong and Styles - if one of these could also play centre back all the better; a more athletic and mobile central midfielder to partner either Mowatt or Molumby - could Diakate step up?; a keeper to either replace Griffiths or to step in should he fall into some bad form; and a creative attacking midfielder type to replace (and hopefully improve on) Grady. Those additions would make a 6th place challenge a much more realistic possibiliy than what they are currently. Without them, we'll likely be settling for a top half finish.

I have no opinions on Mason at the moment, and am still hoping for the best for his reign, however, if we're doing any worse than 14th come Christmas I will expect the owners will replace him.

Expecting 8th, hoping for play offs. Expecting Blues to finish higher, and Wrexham to be near us...

Apart from the 3 relegated I'm expecting a close run thing for POs.

Mason shouldn't be given a free ride for inexperience, unless he's showing signs of improving us, in which case a few slip ups are ok...

I do think we could finish anywhere between 5th and 15th, and I doubt there will be more than 10 points between those two places. It’s a very tight league this season, to the point I’m struggling to see any team other than Wednesday that I expect to go down.

Managers will be crucial IMO, the ability to eek out points in tight games will be the difference between a playoff spot and disappointment. On the positive side, we don’t have Mowbray, but I’m concerned from preseason that Mason may not have the nous yet to earn those extra points.

What SW4Baggie said. The aim is playoffs and we should never be aiming any lower than that.

What I have always wanted, win more than we lose, and anything else is a bonus.

I would hope we’re competing for 5/6th spot. But we’re doing so with about 8 other teams.

I expect Ipswich and Southampton to stroll it. Leicester could implode, but more likely 3/4th with Sheffield United then you’ve got: Blackburn, Blues, Boro, Bristol, Coventry,Millwall, Norwich and Watford and hoping/expecting to compete for the play-offs. Wrexham, Derby, Stoke and PNE will be hoping to join that group competing.

It’s going to be a tough season, I don’t believe we have a top 6 squad or will have come end of August, and I’ve no idea about the manager. I’ve not seen or heard anything yet that makes me think he has something special about him.

I’m still struggling to understand why we’ve taken such a gamble on a guy who hasn’t been an assistant let alone in charge. It seems very much a “it worked for Blues”, but we have no idea if he helped or hindered them given their squad disparity to the rest of their league.

I have a little hope of a PO challenge but zero expectancy. THRM has to be given the time though to see if he can improve. Someone said we’re not a nursery for him to learn how to be a manager, sadly we very much are! I hope in a couple of years time, Spurs are chucking millions of compo at us in order to take him back.

Some consistency and fewer thrown away draws would be lovely.
