My expectations

For the season ahead are the same as they were at the end of last season ,knowing we would have a,new head coach ,some deadwood would leave ,I still expect Fellows to leave in a late deal ,and a few more loans in As for were we will finish I expect 10th/14th will us being very inconsistent, anything else is a bonus .I'm sure our current  owner will get it right but it's going to take a while to clear the mess he invested in .

I expect a concerted push for the top 6. We have so far spent around £7m and have a core squad that is good enough to make the playoffs. Yes there are a few gaps to plug, but Mason being inexperienced isn’t an acceptable reason for us not to target the top 6, he’s been brought in to get us promoted, not to learn how to be a manager, we are not a nursery or a charity.

If we don’t look like challenging for a playoff spot, then we show Mason the door.

I expect a season flirting with the 5th/6th position with about 8 other teams throughout the season. With good runs leading us to occupy those places and bad runs seeing us fall out. Plenty of highs and lows, and musical chairs between 5th and 10th.

I don't expect a play-off place as such, but I do expect us to be in and around them all season.

We've little chance of automatic promotion or being in that comfortable 4th position where you've consolidated a play-off spot but not close to the top 2. That isn't realistic.

A season where we're not close to the play-offs, mid-table mediocrity, or worse, would be a failure.

In short

Automatic promotion - very unlikely and would be incredible.
3rd-6th - a good season.
7th-10th (caveat being we were in the play-off race all season) - par.
11th-18th - poor.
19th-21st - Very poor.
22nd-24th - Disastrous.

I’m normally a lot more positive, but I see a lot of potential but we had no heart or balls when it counted last season and I don’t see a strong spine. Its inevitable that we will lose one or 2 of the better players before the window slams shut. Hopefully a few spurs loaners will plug the gaps.

Expected us to flirt with the top 8 all season, hoping the I will be proven wrong.

You don’t get stronger by staying in the Championship. Every season we stay in it will see us lose money or sell our best players.

We should look to getting in the Playoffs, the building slowly over several years is balti pie in the sky drivel we hear all the time and never stands up to any scrutiny.

Mid-table is par IMO.

Form from 2025 to date suggests bottom six.
