Kipre's "Save"
#11
But yes - we have nothing to worry about in terms of retrospective action on this. Initially, retrospective punishments could only be introduced for violent conduct, but more recently diving was added. Given this was neither, not even Dingle Don can find a way to justify a ban for Kipre.

Imagine that QPR being a London club, there will be some calls for "unprofessional actions" being added to the list, to punish players who deliberately prevent a goal like this, or who look to score using a deliberate hand ball etc.

To be honest I wouldn’t mind that brought in - as long as it’s not retrospective!

This incident aside, I wouldn't be against it - potentially you'd just do it for retrospective red cards for any form of foul play, unprofessional conduct or violent conduct - as in this case Kipre should have been sent off for that "save"

But, as with all these things, until such a time the FA/PFA can be trusted to introduce such action with consistency and not just use it to benefit the bigger clubs getting the results TV audiences want, I'd rather it was left be.

It already exists. Weimann was rightly booked against Ipswich for trying to punch the ball into the net.

Last night was just a case of the referee not spotting it.

Still winds me up that he didn't just head that in.

Hard for the ref to give that last night.

In real time it looked as if Palmer had made a world class save and absolutely no one was claiming a penalty.

I still can't believe how wrong my first impression of that incident was.

I blame it on Kipre's repeated exposure to the Liquidator. We'll play behind closed doors for this, mark my words.

Even after watching the first replay, I genuinely thought that Kipre had headed it over the bar. Really was an incredibly difficult one to spot.

...don't say it, don't even think it, why mention it...

This is what VAR should be spotting, no way could the ref spot that in real time - I know I didn't watching it live with multiple cameras.

..sorry!

Secondly, what's the chances of the powers that be digging up the, seemingly defunct, "retrospective ban" cronies? Should we be worried?

None. If that was handball then so was the one at home vs Southampton when we should’ve had a penalty. Swings and roundabouts with handball, some you get, some you don’t.
