I've stewed on it and I don't think we played bad at all. I thought we pressed well and forced Blackburn into a lot of errors (they were poor today, but I'd argue we harried them into being poor). We created a number of good chances. Molumby should have scored, Wallace (I think) had one blocked on the line (potential hand ball?) stand out. To create two clear cut chances, and more, as well as score is a good sign.

CC got the selection correct, for me. Try and judge the selection at KO and not after. It's easy to criticise in hindsight after the event.

I won't cover the defending, that's been done to death.

Man of the match, BTA. He ran them ragged all afternoon.

Plenty to be positive about IF we can somehow bring in a centre back or two and clean up the costly errors.

I'm off for a pint or ten. Good day all.
Got back around 7 30 and sat and reflected on the match, first half, for 20 mins we were all over them then a couple of mistakes by Townsend ana Palmer for first and a minute later by Kipre and Palmer bang were 2 down and chasing the game.
Palmer was beaten way too easily at the near post for both goals. Thought there should have been a foul before the first goal and we could have had a pen at 0 0. Kipre well I will say no more poor all game along with Okay and Wallace. Surprise inclusion Chalabah I thought did ok. Second half started well again and our best player Phillips scored an excellent goal.we then should have scored a second through Molumby. But Blackburn then had 2 great chances which the somehow managed to miss. Subs swift and TGH were crap, the new boy looked promising Mowatt looked good and for me should have started and we looked more solid at the back with Bartley on.
Not all doom and gloom Palmer hope just a blip ,and defensively we need a decent centre half wether it can be Taylor or a new player .  Also with Maja to come in there is still optimism.
Fair summary that. Anyone with half a brain could see that centre back pairing ending in trouble. Our defence was crap at the end of last season and we lost our best centre half. I could excuse those errors from Taylor but perhaps he defends too well and needs to learn how not to attack the ball and how to set the opposition up.

Honestly I thought other than one shot, BTA was pretty rubbish

BTA had a decent game and will be far better off once he has some support around him that complements him.

We’ve committed defensive suicide today and had a couple of blatant pens turned down.

The worry for me is Blackburn are crap and we’ve still lost
Someone could have been killed

If you have that back 4or 5 which hasn't changed in about 4 seasons and they was shit when they was younger what fucking hell do you expect.

BTA ran tirelessly and was basically working off scraps, as usual.

They weren't shit 3 years ago. We were automatically promoted with Furlong, Bartley, Ajayi and Townsend as our back 4. Either they have turned carp. Or as per Moore/Jones days are being asked to focus on passing (pissing about) at the back which isn't their strength rather than defensive basics

Quite. Doubt many predicted that midfield before the game and it was hardly vindicated.

Nor the two CB's. It was an utterly stupid team selection which most of us realised as soon as the line up was announced.

Last season we had Corberan playing Wallace in the ten role and Swift wide left, we won none of those games, now we've started the season with an even more ridiculous team and guess what, we lost again!
