I'd heard of 3 - the obvious ones plus Jessie Ware who's been around for a while. I tend to listen to the nominees for a bit then forget all about them. The last one I got into for a fortnight was Michael Kiwanuka... I should revisit.

I'm going through Warner Bros stuff at the moment as I'm reading a book about the label.. Van Dyke Parks and Van Halen II this morning. Maybe Van Morrison later on.

At the moment I'm hammering the new Blur album, which is ace.

Fred Again isn’t really my bag but he’s being widely held up as the next big thing in dance music.

Jockstrap are absolutely abysmal. Went to see them at Hare and Hounds a couple of years ago as I was intrigued by their first couple of singles. They really were just complete catshit.

I know all but 2 of the acts in the list. Can't say I'm a fan of any of them. There are plenty of good new acts out there at the moment but I tend to find in the last 3 or 4 years that the majority of the better artists emerging have been Australian or European in terms of my tastes.

Fred again is awesome.

Nor my cuppa tea. I love house music, except techno. I do like progressive melodic techno and other variations of house music.  I just find the bpm for techno too fast.

The appalling fakeness of auto-tuning now pervades and makes vocals cringingly unlistenable, whilst the most popular musical styles are stuck in a rut and are devoid of variety and creativity.

A musical renaissance is long overdue!

Empty unwrapped tin of baked beans (or any other consumed tinned food), a stick, and then away you go! The musical renaissance is here!
