I have only listened to one of the Mercury Award nominees.

To condole myself, I am reminded that the Mercury has always been intended to be a beacon for those seeking out stuff you may not have listened to but has been well received.  But 1 out of 12 is a shocking indictment.

You've probably listened to one more than most on here. Applaud yourself for getting down with the kids.

I'm currently listening to a 20 year old Peter Gabriel album on Spotify.

I have no idea who anybody is these days music wise. I'm quite comfortable in my 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's bubble for UK/British artists. In fact, who are you? Wink

I moan at the missus whose car radio is stuck on Absolute 90s.  I think I'm being funny when I call it "Absolute Dad FM".

Dad jokes eh?

Am currently debating which album from 1966, `Freak Out` by Frank Zappa, `Revolver`, by The Beatles. 1967, `Disraeli Gears` by Cream, `Surrealistic Pillow` by Jefferson Airplane.  1970 `Abraxas` by Santana or `The Best Of Steely Dan`to listen to.

Young Fathers, Loyle Carner and. Jockstrap are all decent.

Fred Again isn’t really my bag but he’s being widely held up as the next big thing in dance music.

The amount of good music produced since the 1970s is extremely limited and bordering on non-existent in the past 20 years, at least based on what I've heard anyway!

The appalling fakeness of auto-tuning now pervades and makes vocals cringingly unlistenable, whilst the most popular musical styles are stuck in a rut and are devoid of variety and creativity.

A musical renaissance is long overdue!
