Said he was going to yellow card a certain Leeds  before the game, and duly did so.

That just sums how shit society is, doesn't it. He's clearly an individual who has struggled with demons, and he felt there was no where to turn to and he wasn't safe to be who he wants to be publicly.

It's about time society takes a damn hard look at itself.

'Coote said he felt a "deep sense of shame" during his teenage years and told his parents when he was 21 and his friends when he was 25.'

That's such a sad quote Sad

I can sympathise with the position he was in but it feels like he's playing a get out of jail card to me. Saying that the bloke who shared the video is a complete cnut.

Maybe. There's a hint of trying to justify his actions.

But ultimately, it's a man who was going through a dark time, turned to drugs, and was 'stitiched' up by so called friends.

I have some level of sympathy for him. He's made poor decisions during difficult times. He's human.

Pretty much sums up my views on the matter.

It's a bit like me saying "I got caught and got sacked from my highly paid job.  The pressure of my job made me act like a knob.  I still kept the job until I got caught being a knob.  BTW I'm gay".

I genuinely have sympathy for anyone in football (or any walk of life for that matter) who has to cover up their sexuality.  I have less sympathy for people who use that as an excuse for their own shit behaviour.

It's play straight out of the Phil Scofield handbook.
In the form of his life.

Anyone else thinking he was blackmailed by an ex over the videos now?

Yep. Absolutely my thoughts. He’s broke and The Sun have given him an extra 30k for saying he snorts coke because of his sexuality. Load of bollocks. And that’s not knocking what others have posted about the reality of the shame of sexuality in sport/society, which is spot on also
