If anyone remembers when this lot bought us, it came very much out of the blue in some regards, we've always been secretive as a club.

I knew about the first potential failed takeover as I was asked to quote for something but it never happened as it fell through. The potential owners at the time may have just moved 8.8m down the road. It was never made clear who the potential investors may have been at the time.

Correct they did move down the road - all because of one man and his extra greed

I mentioned this on here at the time - I got it straight from the horse's mouth that there was a previous chinese bidder that agreed a price and it was accepted. When the time came to putting the money up they backtracked. He was then left with nowhere to go. At least that was his version of events.

He was amazed/relieved this one got over the line.

In hindsight, the warning signs were there right at the start. Lai more or less said he wouldn't put any money in. Turns out that was a mistranslation, he should of said couldn't....

Lai's talk was of the club being self-sufficient without any need for external investment, which can work as we all know. We had been doing it for years, and doing it well when Ashworth was at the club.

Where it fell down was them appointing people to oversee the running of the club who were utterly fucking clueless.

Baldie taught Lai and Co how to run the club.  Take out a loan and never pay it back.
