Really is radio silence isn't it? Other than the odd, cryptic, hint on here, absolutely zilch.
I don't pay much attention to takeovers of other clubs, but I can't remember one coming right out of the blue, with no media coverage whatsoever. Either we are the masters of subterfuge or it's nowhere near close.

NDA's are there for a reason.

I knew about the first potential failed takeover as I was asked to quote for something but it never happened as it fell through. The potential owners at the time may have just moved 8.8m down the road. It was never made clear who the potential investors may have been at the time.

Correct they did move down the road - all because of one man and his extra greed

Not sure that’s true Dave - more to do with an infamous Portuguese agent getting involved.

Not sure that’s really the reason.  If you own a company that somebody is prepared to pay £200m for, why would even contemplate selling to a buyer prepared to only pay a tiny fraction of that, which is what Wolves were bought for.  They were a basket case financially at that time, but with lots of upside potential which made them a far more attractive commercial investment, whereas we were fully valued as a well-run club with no debt, but with minimal upside as an investment.

I don’t call that greed, that’s human nature and opportunism.  Nobody in their right mind would have turned down the deal that Peace accepted.

Not always adhered to though and the media normally find a way in

That’s true in most cases, but it seems to be different at the Baggies, even transfers we don’t seem to know about until it’s virtually complete.

My understanding from what I was told at the time was that a deal was v close but JP continued to drive the price up to the point they walked away and we were left with these lot as they offered the most.

At least this time lets hope there is some football understanding in the new owners unlike Lai and Co

From a purely business perspective, nobody could blame Peace. But a football club is a part of a community, and also a part of hundreds of thousands of people's lives (literally). He did say he would sell to an entity that could move the club forward. Whilst his intentions may have been honourable, I think history will show that Chinese ownership did not move the club forward.

I mentioned this on here at the time - I got it straight from the horse's mouth that there was a previous chinese bidder that agreed a price and it was accepted. When the time came to putting the money up they backtracked. He was then left with nowhere to go. At least that was his version of events.

He was amazed/relieved this one got over the line.

In hindsight, the warning signs were there right at the start. Lai more or less said he wouldn't put any money in. Turns out that was a mistranslation, he should of said couldn't....

That's what I heard too, Roland upped the price on more than one occasion when deals got close.  He behaved like a true venture capitalist in putting very little in, did a company share buyback and sold to the highest bidder regardless of the consequences.

He managed certain aspects of the club well and others less so.  The bits he managed well all fitted around share price.

I have no idea why he's revered by some.
