Let's not reinvent Barts as the new McAuley or Olsson. He's had as many nightmare games as brilliant ones over the years and he doesn't bounce back from injury. Dara and Kipper could have been a storming combination, but finances are what they are.

Compare O'shea in 3 years to Kipre this season and we'll see.

Kipre has been unbelievable this season but was poor for us two years ago.

The way I remember it, Kipre had settled into a steady back three for Ismael. We weren't conceding huge numbers of goals. Bruce dropped him immediately after a brief conversation with Livermore, during which the players' cabal exerted its influence. Cedric was sent to sit on the naughty step with Mowatt 'cos the players didn't like Ismael's pets.

Big Sam called it right, there was something malign about the squad in those days. CC has done well to flush that out.

Interestingly only the defenders plus Yokuslu (for just 3 months) plus Phillips were actually here when Allardyce was here.  Nobody else in the squad was.   The defenders who overlapped with Sam were Furlong, Townsend, Bartley, Ajayi and Kipre.

Carlos has turned our defence into one of best in the Championship through great organisation and
confidence.

Both are better playing alongside an old head. Dara is still the better defender. But Cedric is coming along at some rate of knots.

It may be different with Dara as he matures, but when he was here he always played better with Pieters and/or Bartley etc, but I think Cedric will always be better with a sensible CB next to him.

I thought Dara was a little overrated by our fan base. Decent enough but not as good as most made out. Got a lot of slack because he was ‘one of our own’.

I thought Dara was dreadful early season under Bruce.

But him and Bart were superb in that run of 9 wins out of 11 under CC in the winter. We were defending 1 goal leads better than we are now

Kipre is better in the air and O’Shea is comfortably quicker, he was registered in one of the fastest 5 players in the Prem this season which is madness fir a centre half

Kipre is a better defender for me and it’s imperative we try and get him signed to this contract

Never said that Cuz, I said that Dara is deceptively quick. I think Kipré is more than capable in the air,  but Dara read the game better IMO. Reason he was such a danger in the opposition box at set pieces was his ability to get in front of his man and find the right place.

Him and Kipré together would have been an excellent partnership.

I was responding to the OP mate, sorry

Let’s not reinvent history, Kipre had played a lot of games and did ok but he was overweight and slow, the game before Bruce arrived he had his worst game an Albion strip, Bruce came in and went with Ajyia. This season the improvement in Kipre has been enormous and he is the pick of the back four, we will be lucky to keep him. I honestly do not believe he would still be an Albion player if O Shea had stayed, to our loss.

If I was Kipre I would want reassurance that Corberan is going to stay before signing any contract. At the moment Kipre’s stock is very high and any player out of contract will attract clubs but a lot of it is down to the manager and the way he sets us up.
O’Shea would easily fit in to our team but that is down to our manager and the way he organises us.If I’m being honest Bartley doesn’t fit in to the passing out from the back ethos that Corberan prefers but is ideal for teams who have a big centre forward to deal with.Peters is preferred because he adds balance on the left hand side and can pass out from the back like Cedric.

I was gutted when DOS left but I’d prefer Kipre out of the two.

We had 51 points after 35 games last season. Luton in 5th had 57.
