Not because i don't think he's any good, he clearly has a plan, a structure and standards, as well as in-game tactical nous. I think he'll do well here, especially with Molumby and Mowatt fit and firing and a few additions that suit the system.

But i have an aversion to sitting deep and letting the opposition have posession. I hated it under Pulis (because it was mind-numbing), i tolerated it under Hodgson (because it got us results and we played decent football when we had it) and i'll have to find a way to put up with it under Eric. That will be easier if results are coming.

Might need some advice from Derek, Birdy on how they tolerated Bilic and Mogga MK1. Big Grin

I tolerate winning football.

I loved the first few months of Bilic because we were winning, and watching the likes of Pereira and Grady absolutely humiliate teams was great fun. Then lockdown happened, he allowed our players to come back unfit and ill-prepared and that then defined him as a manager going into the Prem too.

Mowbray mk1, the warning signs were there all through that season, no team condeding that many goals should ever be promoted, next season teams just gave us the ball knowing they could attack and score whenever they really felt like it. We were used as a bit of a in season break of a match by many teams, it was absolutely embarrassing and humiliating to watch.

If we're winning games, I never understand how fans can complain, I really, really don't it's so ridiculously illogical it baffles me. I get it when the wins aren't there to some extent. But we've been playing possession-heavy football under Mason and fans still turned very quickly, ultimately, results matter most.

Exactly. I did say at the game though that the purists amongst our fans will turn quickly with this style of football if it doesn’t yield success.

Have come to the conclusion there are sections of our fan base who are only happy when we are playing poorly and losing so they can have whinge and hate any sort oof success or progress. Really dont know what some want anymore, they want us to win games then bemoan the style, they want a solid defence then bemoan our lack of attacking, they want attacking football then bemoan our lack of defence, they want an experienced manager then moan he is a dinosaur, they want an up and coming young coach then moan when he is out of his depth, play the youth then slaughter them every time tbey make a mistake, if it wasnt so embarrassing it would be hilarious listening to them. Now me i dont care who is in charge or the style so long as we win games and they eventually bring promotion and success because ultimately that is the ONLY thing that matters.

Agree Tetley.

Many seem happier when we have a non descript style as long as it appears to be progressive. Bruce, Mowbray, Mason all got a hell of a lot of leeway from certain sections of the support. And it tends to be the same people that pipe up when we have a Val, CC or it already seems Ramsay.

I guess it shows that it takes all sorts of opinions. Even if some are more rational than others. That will never change though, we just have to hope that these owners look at the facts not the 'feelings'. I think they do, that's why Mowbray got tinned and Mason did, albeit a little late.

Ramsay had three sessions. If anyone's watched the way his Minnesota side moved the ball up the pitch they'd not be surprised we'd not got it nailed in half a week. That aside I reckon we played more forward passes Friday night than at any point in the season before.

First half we had the best chances and I fancy it would have been a completely different game had the bizarre OG not happened right on HT.

Ramsay, I am confident will find the right balance of how much to sit off a team to give us space to attack into on transition. A mixture of low confidence and three fucking days on the training pitch meant that elements of it weren't quite right against one of the best teams in the league on Friday night.

If he gets the likes of MJ,  Price, Heggebo, Grant, SIJ in full flight attacking quickly and with directness as his Minnesota team so often did then there won't be many complaints around our style of play that's for sure. We must not lose sight of how Ramsay spoke of controlling the game with and without the ball. Under Mason we had the ball but never controlled a game, think how many times we conceded within a minute of turning the ball over.
