I'm currently listening to a 20 year old Peter Gabriel album on Spotify.

Am currently debating which album from 1966, `Freak Out` by Frank Zappa, `Revolver`, by The Beatles. 1967, `Disraeli Gears` by Cream, `Surrealistic Pillow` by Jefferson Airplane.  1970 `Abraxas` by Santana or `The Best Of Steely Dan`to listen to.

Blonde on Blonde
Pet Sounds
Aftermath
The psychedelic sounds of the 13th floor elevators (the kids do not have a clue about band names either!)

The appalling fakeness of auto-tuning now pervades and makes vocals cringingly unlistenable, whilst the most popular musical styles are stuck in a rut and are devoid of variety and creativity.

A musical renaissance is long overdue!

Don't know your age Worcs but I can guess you must be around the 60 mark and have had your youth in the 1970s.

We all hold onto those days when music brought us back to carefree times and meant so much.

There's been plenty of great music, but it's more splintered and it's a case of what you want to find.

I tend to revisit artists I know and listen to their albums.

Incidentally, I doubt my late teenage kids know more than one or two bands in the Mercury list. It's not like the days of punk, ska, electronic pioneers and heavy metal all being mixed in with Roger Whittaker on Top of the Pops.

There has been tonnes of great stuff released in the last few years if people actually want to look for it:

Fontaines DC, Wet Leg, The Murder Capital, Little Simz, Wolf Alice, Idles, Yard Act, Sam Fender, Confidence Man, Phoebe Bridgers, Courtney Barnett all hit the scene within the last five years or so and are all worth checking out.

It's difficult now to find new stuff. I was a chart obsessed, pop crazed youngster and then found Peel, Tommy Vance etc. to give it some depth when I was a bit older. I honestly think we're missing a TOTP to tie everything together.. as wank as it was, it was ace and skill too.

Fred Again isn’t really my bag but he’s being widely held up as the next big thing in dance music.

Fred again is awesome.

Nor my cuppa tea. I love house music, except techno. I do like progressive melodic techno and other variations of house music.  I just find the bpm for techno too fast.

Techno is the bollix, filthy dirty clubs in Berlin, thought it'd be right up your street Big Grin

Nah, too fast a bpm to dance to, other than looking like a raving lunatic.

Give me this any day.

I dare say, she ain’t mixing this and is dancing and looking pretty to get money off her videos . I’ve noticed there a few east European female DJs doing the same in dancing h outdoors somewhere as opposed to in front of a group of clubbers.  Hhmmmmm.
