Your favourite old ground and new ground

Okay so whats your favourite old ground (one that no longer exists) and your favourite new ground?

Mine would be Roker Park (proper old school ground, always a good atmosphere and day out).

New one probably Huddersfield. Not a bowl, still a good atmos, still town centre rather than retail park.

I liked old Huddersfield with the big side terrace to the right of the away end, pity my visit was the 3-0 with Strodder's bullet header (into his own goal).

Old - Readings Elm Park is my pick. I remember a pub very near the ground which we always used to take over pre match. Compare that to the shite Madjeski on an out of town shopping park and its a no contest. Been to every game at Reading in the last 35 years I think.....

New - Have to admit I've not been to many of the new ones like Spurs, Arse, West Ham etc.

I  will hazard a guess that if you put this thread before supporters of every one of the other 90 league clubs, yours would be the only vote for Elm Park.

I loved White Hart Lane. Old fashioned ground where you felt on top of the action.

Most of the “new” grounds leave me cold. All identikit soulless bowls. That said I went to Allianz a few years ago and watched Bayern, that was pretty cool.

I agree re. new stadia. 

Conversely, some of the old grounds were way, way past their best.

The Baseball Ground, and many others were just appalling.

I loved Maine Road. Big, rooted in the community, great history and (as I mentioned on a previous post a couple of weeks back) saw us win there in the first season back in the top flight. Hard to think of a new ground. Most of the ones I’ve been to have been plastic out of town generic stadia, I’d probs have to plump for the new Spurs ground. It’s impressive but crucially remains largely on the foot print of the old White Hart Lane and is still in a proper working class neighbourhood.
