This really needs sorting, linked with Spurs in the press today, apparently a host of Prem clubs want him

Nothing like the finished article, without the ball he offers us nothing currently which is him still learning the role

He has great potential, but that’s all it is currently, gone off the boil the past few games which may or may not have anything to do with the contract situation but it’s all gone very quiet after Moore commented a few weeks back progress was being made

  Back 3
Posted by: Wednesburybaggie - 03-03-2019, 11:09 AM - Forum: WBAUnofficial - Replies (11)

I think a return to the back 3 system may work well for us now. A lot of the frailties before were down to Bartley playing left side. A back 3 of Holgate, Dawson and Hegazi would be solid, with Gibbs as left wing back, and Phillips(or Edwards if Matty snags another toenail) on the right. This would enable us to play Livermore(or Barry, not both), Johansen and Harper as a narrow 3, and get Gayle back up centrally, alongside JRod. We need those 2 paired together again, and this would be, IMO,the best way to achieve that.

Says Saturday 23rd of March 7pm KO (still TBC) on FA website, I presume this will be played at the smaller ground next door?

  My take on Moore
Posted by: richbaggie - 03-03-2019, 09:28 AM - Forum: WBAUnofficial - Replies (59)

At the start of the season, I thought play offs would be a good return after the disaster and mess created by TP and AP. The squad is decent at this level but nowhere near as good as some pundits and Baggies make out. Losing Barnes was huge, MP injuries too. Pace gone.

Darren Moore took on an almighty mess. A split club with a poisonous centre. The job he has done to change that around and put us into a relatively strong position is one that deserves huge credit, certainly not the abuse I sadly heard on Friday night.

I always felt that giving him the job was a job too big for a novice but understood why we gave it him after the way he galvanised us. Once that decision was made, it was important to then to give him time, more than this season unless it was a disaster. And it clearly isn't disaster. So we should continue to support him to let him grow and learn. Hes one heck of a man manager. The players would run through brick walls for him. What he lacks at the moment he can learn. You cant learn what he already has. Its given to you at birth.

However, and this is key, he has to stop repeating mistakes. Novice or not, you can't continually repeat mistakes. Persevering with a plan when clearly flawed is poor management. We have flexibility in the squad to try different things. It's time for Darren to learn and adapt.

We’ve a fan base with a sense of entitlement

Was saying this to a mate today and he agreed. Somehow 8 seasons of Prem football has changed the clubs fans.
As hideous as last night was, and it looks to have ended automatic hopes, the lack of patience in allowing Moore to get us back is staggering.
Regardless of poor tactics, substitutions, etc, I should think looking at the state of Villa and the two teams that went down with us should give us perspective.
A club that endured losses galore and was alienated from the fans is now winning enough to be 4th and the football is watchable again.
I can’t control the team selection but as long as the Albion play I will always get behind them.
I’m not confident of us going up as I think we have had 6 days that have defined the season, but I hope that I’m wrong, but just as much I wish that some of our fans would count our blessings.
We’re 4th have a relatively comfortable run in and the Albion need support. I hope we properly get behind them.

  Leeds fans last night!

I've took my lad to numerous away games both in the Premier League and the Championship and for the first time I caught my 14 year old lad looking more at the Leeds fans than the match.Yes I know we had nothing to shout about but the Leeds fans were magnificent and intimidating for the whole ninety minutes, there were no gimmicks like clappers or drums. There seems  now to be more of an obsession to sing underneath in the burger bar area and then film it on there phone.I personally want the best for  West Bromwich Albion football club and feel that we need to get something organized between the fans to get the ground rocking. The club itself needs to help in this as the Leeds fans were relentless last night and were like an extra man and if you want any evidence just remember the four Leeds players chasing down the one Albion player towards the 90th minute.Times have changed and I hate that there is so much personal criticism towards the manager and players. Please be constructive and don't just follow what other fans have said.

Brilliant entertainment when you're not emotionally committed.

Diving, clutching of faces, surrounding the ref.

And then there's Messi. Even now he's a genius.

Ronaldo relied on athleticism, power and pace which inevitably would wane with time.

Messi has an incredible spatial awareness, a weight of pass and an economy of movement.

He could play until he's 40 like Sir Stanley but won't need to.

It's a matter of opinions but in my book he's unquestionably the greatest player football has ever seen.

Looks like this is being brought in for next season to combat bad behaviour in grassroots football (and potentially higher up the footballing pyramid later on). Great idea, I think, if implemented correctly.
