I used to start in there. I was living in London at the time, but would travel up for the derby matches, staying for the weekend.  when we played the Dings, we'd go to the Heron. I remember being in there one Sunday morning at 8am. It was already full when we got there. Was a grim place, but they served breakfast so were allowed to open and serve beer. I was in there once before the 1-1 draw when Carbon scored; we got pelted with bricks and bottles on the ring road in the escort.
I remember the concrete flinging game - think it was the last one where there was standing in the South Bank.

Worst game for violence was probably the 2-1 win when Derek Monaghan scored the winner, pretty much sent Wolves down.

Most bizarre game was the 0-0 in the old div 1 when Wolves were relegated again (start of their back to back relegations) - iirc there was only about 13k in the ground.

Aye. Thompson was sent off IIRC

Was at both of those games in the John Ireland (as it was then), with my dad as a 10 and then a 12 year old. I remember us celebrating when Monaghan scored and also when Godden saved a late pen. We sent the Dings and Leeds down that year; couldn't happen to two nicer clubs.

Aye. Kicked Alan Dodds in the forehead.
Villa are an awful set of cunts. Tory grasses from Lichfield. Utter cunts to a man. Crying to the teacher, shit haircuts, Topman jeans, cunts.
You have to hand it to the Villa fans holding a 90 minute silence on Remembrance Day

Can't agree there, Atomic. My first Dings v Albion was in the late 60's, 3-3 at their place, Bomber punched in the equaliser. Stacks of trouble followed that, I was about 10 and more than a bit concerned (!).  We played them at ours about a fortnight later and won 4-1. Believe me, Wolves and Albion were sworn enemies back then with much of the trouble being at midweek discos like The Tipton Throstle, Gornal Throstle, Queen Mary.   I never had a clue who Villa were until we played them in 73 and only then realised it was a big game. As many say though, Villa are dislikeable twats, The Dings are a whole other level of Missing Link.  I live surrounded by villa now though and on the basis they have a chance of going down, I'll let the Dings have this one.

Wins thread with best description of them in a long while.

I was at the 3-3 also. A Wednesday night in 1967 it was and over 50000 there, half of those on the South Bank which is where I was stood with my Dad. The traffic jam to the ground started in Kingswinford 8 miles away. I lost my voice, as did a Wolves mate, and next day we couldn't trade insults in the usual manner.

A good following from us made up a lot of that 13k also.
A lot of dings have a bit of a blind spot for those days now.
