Doves debut is as good a debut album you will ever hear.

Felt guilty leaving Jarvis and the member of the Smiths who's not now a cunt on the sidelines.

What was hardest was keeping in old faves like GD and Nirvana, that I just don't listen too much anymore. However as a kid, I adored both. It would be ephemeral to oust them to make way for newer faves like Metric and Slaves.

What was easiest was omitting Genesis/Phil Collins. He's such an excellent musician, and some of his work is top class, with other top class musicians. But he has always struck me as a complete tossface. In fact, I fucking bet he is mates with Noel Edmunds.

Yeah remember being blown away by Catch the Sun and Here It Comes. Couple of great gigs at the Civic (or maybe one was at Hummingbird/Academy).

Wanna smile, no matter how depressed or upset you are? Stick Melody Calls on.

You won't switch tracks until well after the Cedar Room.

Catch the Sun is one of those tracks that grabs you right by the bollocks on first listen. I love tracks like that when people like this lot write them, as opposed to wankers like Nickleback.

Wire - interesting choice. I noticed Pink Flag made the Rolling Stone top 500 albums of all time. I much prefer Chairs Missing and 154 myself.

Chairs Missing is a superb album. I've got Outdoor Miner on white vinyl somewhere in the house, I need to dig it out sometime.

BBB - The first three albums are the holy trinity, and I've have to go with 154 as my favourite.
Squid - Likewise own the white vinyl version of Outdoor Miner, coincidentally only dug it out the other day to show to a friend.

8. Pixies
9.Talking Heads
10. Arctic Monkeys

Swans.   Fucking hell.   Not in my top 10-but respect all the same...
Reading through this is a cross between a musical education and a reminder of half-forgotten great bands. I’m going to put a mental sticky(ooooh err) on this thread and pick bands at random and play albums while I’m working at home over the next few weeks.
Another thing. No one has put Coldplay in their list. Some people hate them, some people are completely indifferent about them but they’re still very popular. I quite like them, but not enough to be top 10 but I’m very surprised that they don’t make anyone’s top 10

Saw em last year on the same bill as Marr and The Coral. I'd forgotten how good they were. A great day despite it pissing down.

Interesting that Queen have only made the one poster's list. Not my cup of tea but I soon learned not to say anything disparaging about them on here. Wink
