I didn't go running last week as I picked up a knock during football. I'm getting on a bit now, and it takes longer to recover from strains and pulls! Plus, I'm lazy.
Football is a completely different animal. The amount of stop-starting your legs do, particularly when you're a lumbering centre back like I was, trying to chase someone who can sprint is what makes you unable to walk the next day. Well that and being kicked
