Absolutely this.

My Dad took me to the Hawthorns in the 79 season, but the first abiding memory I have was Cyrille's goal of the season strike gainst Norwich. He was my first Albion hero, and will forever be that.

I found out around 8am before work and spent the day wondering what to do afterwards. So I had taken a scarf with me to tie to the Astle Gates that evening. I recall a few being there, then as the days went on, the gates were overwhelmed with tributes.

The saints game really was.

I was absolutely gobsmacked when Brian Deane and Dion Dublin started crying. 2 players who were real thorns in our side in the 90s and 00s but they were only trying to emulate Cyrille.  So many black players of that generation who were boyhood Wba fans due to the 3 degrees.

Reading Garry Thompsons book at the moment. He talks about how the likes of Hansen never used to wind Regis up during a game.   The night we played Millwall in the 2nd leg of the Milk Cup, Regis was walking to the players entrance when he noticed a local black lady getting racist abuse off a couple of Millwall fans who had arrived early. Regis intervened and told them amicably to leave it out.   They carried on and Regis sparked one of the twats out. That night he was an absolute beast with Thompson - and we ran out 5-1 winners

I don't think there was a dry eye in the Hawthorns that day, mine certainly weren't.

The emotion at the time was utter disbelief, from his first match to his last the great man was a legend, I’m still wondering why Players tried to catch him once he was past you he was gone. The sight of the big man in full flight was a sight to behold.
Loved you then love you now. RIP Big Man.

You ain't on your own pal. Same here.

Cyrille was my hero. Still is my favourite player of all time. I bumped into him just a few weeks before he died and he was utterly charming and a picture of health. I was so shocked. Still hurts....

Rest easy Cyrille.

I saw him play and was lucky enough to get to have a quick chat with him, when he and Brendan very kindly came along to the start of March to Molineux.

A friend of mine asked me if I wanted to go to a church event on an evening as cyrille was going to give a speech. As this was a church event and knowing Cyrille attended church I decided against attending, feeling the speech would most likely be more about religion than football.
