I’m not hanging onto anything as truth, I imagine the idea was to go to the BBC with a headline grabbing news story (it may not have been) to put pressure on the government to act. Perhaps the trust had exhausted all other options? All that is said when anyone dares put their head above the parapet within health and social care is that ‘it’s not helpful’ but presumably staying silent is?

This is exactly what you said to my question whether you believed it. You implied you did, now you imply you didn't.

I said at least TWICE that I understood why he should want to go to the media. So there is really no argument there. You're doing your old trick of arguing against an unreasonable position that wasn't taken!

My only point, which you've neatly sidestepped, is that however noble the cause, lying is not justified. In addition, in this instance, it only weakens the main point, because it's easy for the government to concentrate on the lie, rather than the very, very valid concerns.

To clarify I believe he is getting short of equipment. 
I think he is probably running out of options to put pressure on the government so he went down the route he took. 
I believe he is essentially telling the truth but was maybe mistaken in how he approached things. 

That said I cannot day for certain he didn’t simply ring the BBC up to get the number and neither can anyone else.
