The Athletic on this seasons end.

There are some big cheeses with friends in the media who would appear to have a vested interest in this season being cancelled. This is the second Athletic article in as many weeks with "unnamed sources" saying that the season needs to be voided. It's blatant propaganda. The season has to be finished, whenever that may happen, or declared as completed.

Pre season would be Dec/Jan but the finances involved with supporting clubs are staggering. No transfer window and squads stay frozen.

Purely in a practical sense makes a lot of sense

Not sure how TV companies would react to that with 12 months of no live games and be expected to shell out billions of pounds or if they didn't then clubs would need to be funded from elsewhere and where would the money come from?

Could potentially play the cups through the Autumn/Winter if safe enough to do so I guess, mind you that would only be a couple of games for some clubs

Always going to be a clutch of clubs desperate not to finish it next doors

I will not try to second guess how this will plan out, will leave that to the experts.personally more things to worry about than hw the season pans out. Just want everyone fit and healthy and to get back to watching the Albion wether it be this or next season or if we go up or not.

Agreed bud, if we go up fine if not to bad we'll get over it more important things in life, right now more concern about being safe staying healthy and being able to see my grandkids again and being  around to be at the Hawthorns next time we kick off whenever that maybe.

Why can't players' contracts (who are in their final year) just end and we have a normal transfer window after June, then get the old season up-and-running again when that transfer window is over, maybe August/September? It's just like having an extra transfer window in a season. The clubs won't have the money to pay for big moves so there won't be a huge amount of activity. If we lose our loan players, so be it. We'll just have to get on with it, as will everyone else. Then season ends, then season starts some time after. Carling cup removed and Internationals are gone until March. Then we're back and caught up before Euros in 2021.

No way they will cancel the season or suspend it till Feb next year. nearly 12 months without football is mad, That would only occur if this gets really worse (Spanish Flu levels)
