Assuming they get through, hope it works out better than last time in 1974.

I was 12 and with my parents in the old Rainbow Stand.

I blamed my Mom because every time she came to a match we lost.

Just before my time, I started going up in 75. I believe quite some trouble that day and lots of Geordies in the Brummie.

Wasn't the last time.though. We beat them 4 2 in one of our promotion seasons, maybe RDM?

Several were stretchered out of the Smethwick right in front of us. My Mom said it was due to the coal dust in their lungs!!

About 74. They certainly filled the Smethwick and overflowed into the paddock. I was in the Brummie Rd that day but didn't see any Geordies at the time. Definitely the most away fans I've seen at the Hawthorns.

That was the 4th round. I meant last time we played them in the 5th round.

That year we scraped through against Lincoln 3-2 who equalised twice.
We all thought our name was on the cup until the Geordies knocked us out.

They got to the final but lost to Pool

Was that the last time we had more than 40,000 in The Hawthorns? Remember it being packed, my first experience of fighting in the crowd and us being outclassed.

No segregation in those days. I was in the Smethwick with my uncle, in the same spot we always stood. Remember getting into the ground and never seeing so many away fans before. Massively outnumbered, but still plenty of Albion in there. As mentioned above, the Newcastle fans filled the Rainbow Paddock as well.
