In the 1970's Never liked Thin Lizzy, then I read somewhere that their Album Johnny the Fox was dedicated to John Giles our Lord and Saviour at the time. I became an overnight convert.

Beyond the normal hits know little about them, but from musicians who I know, they rate the band extremely highly.
I've seen the statue of him in Grafton St, Dublin many times.
Real shock when he died so young, but a typical tale of rockn'roll excess.
Incidentally, his father in law, Leslie Crowther was an Albion fan!

it looks like the funds for the statue were raised with less trauma than that for the 3 degrees.

Live And Dangerous is one of the all time great live double albums.

I met him a couple of times at the Odeon in Brum following Lizzy gigs back in the early 80's. A really nice guy with a lot of time for his fans.

Greatly missed.

When I was in Uni I used to ride 35 miles on my motorbike just to listen to Whiskey in the Jar and drink a pint of Marstons Draught Pedigree. It was always worth it.

Wow. I didn't know that. I always assumed we had him in his prime. I'm going to have to rewrite my childhood memories!
