Villa have spent how much?????

After Spurs they have a reasonably generous start. If they start well they’ll build momentum and go on, however if they don’t pick up too many points then the moaning will well and truly start.

What choice did Villa have?
I think everyone knows that Villa did not have a squad that had a chance in hell of retaining PL status next May. So if they did nothing then they would come straight back down.
So their options were to spend a small amount of money with a view to maybe trying to survive the PL but realistically just building for the following season in the Championship. Or they could go for it, spend the money and do everything they can to stay in the PL.
Yes there is risk involved as they have spent 130m and apparently the spending is set to continue. This will wipe out any potential profit from the PL this year but it will put the close to FFP threshold but still well within FFP restrictions. If Villa get relegated they will have 2 years of parachute payments and a squad that looks like it should be able to compete in the Championship. If players are sold then money comes in and FFP worries go away.
Its all well and good saying Villa are doing a Fulham and maybe they are but what choice to they have?
