This is effectively our last throw of the dice without external investment and I’m surprised that such a risk adverse board, and lengthy managerial search has ended in such a wild card.
Dowling has to be the safe pair of hands. I'm sure it's been made clear to Bilic that we won't be signing any fancy dans on big contracts.

If he lasts anywhere near 2 years he'd have done alright.
Giving him the benefit of the doubt - the season it went pear-shaped was when they moved to the London Stadium and Payet was playing up.
They got off to a disastrous start there not just on the pitch.
Apart from his last job he's always won more games than he's lost and had a very high win percentage at Hadjuk Split (68%) Croatia (64.6) and Besiktas (51.6).
Not so good at Locomotiv (40.6) and Spam (37.8).
Much better win record than Pulis and I would imagine in a much more pleasing manner but only managed a third of the games Pulis has.
