Width yesterday

There wasn’t much, we need more crosses for Dike/Heggs/Maja to get on the end of not just hoping they win the headers from passes forward

Once the new loanee went off there was even less. We had a 5 minute spell after the subs where it looked like we realised that width and crosses could be a good thing... then it reverted.

Conscious decision to make us more compact after recent heavy defeats.

We're just so reliant on Mikey Johnston to create anything for the team. Without him, or certainly a fit version, it's difficult to see us having any real attacking threat. Wallace will run his heart out but there simply isn't the quality there anymore. JJA made a decent start and certainly looks enthusiastic. I just don't understand why Bostock isn't given any minutes. Whilst it would be completely unfair to cast him as sort of saviour he would give us another option that we're crying out for. Maybe he might just have a positive impact.

Never mind the width, feel the quality

I think so. Jimbo was very reluctant to get outside, so have to think that was a plan. He could be a good un though, if he can show what he did when clearly not up to pace with the division, he could be very important in the run in.
Would still like to see Bostock as an impact sub.

Agree with above - competent decision to stem the bleeding. Hopefully long term there's a master plan, but I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the season is a narrow stodge. Not for the purists, but given where we find ourselves I'm not going to argue.

Defending is a skill so perfectly fine to set up that way, given our position, but, you have to be good at it! We’ve been piss poor, so a clean sheet is a fantastic start.
We won’t get one against Blues though, so have to create more up tuther end.

Our width came from styles and Gilchrist. But neither are an attacking threat. But we need our wide players centrally to threaten the box because our CM don't.

MJ is long overdue an off day. His first few touches were often decent enough, end product poor yesterday though.

Just keep getting back to basics. Start him wide left where he has consistently been most effective. Whilst yesterday was far from a disaster, I fail to see how repeatedly fucking about with out best player is going to help this mess.
