I think we can safely say XG is a load of utter bollocks… the same people who used to point out our possession stats 15yrs ago have now turned to this ludicrous methodology of determining if we did well.

XG is a useful stat, like all stats, when used in conjunction with others to draw a picture.
There is only one standalone stat in football that has any worth on it's own, the final score.

We've let in 13 goals in that period but have an xG against of under 7. Suggests opposition finishing has been far better than average and/or our goalkeeping has been bad.

So many factors influence xG, as Birdman says, it’s useful, but not in isolation.
In our last 8 games we should have taken more points, and much like many games this season, we’ve not been that bad, but we make too many errors leading to goals. The lack of structure, the constant changing of a defence, the holes we have in midfield, and 2 underperforming keepers have been our undoing.
In January we simply have to sign another keeper.
