What appears to be missed when talking about how the country gets on a stronger footing is stability. The chaos of changing PMs like football managers caused uncertainty and investors will run a mile from that.

You mean Gilt Yields have returned to the level they rose to after the first of her two awful Budgets?

And B1, you call this stability?

The markets appear to think so and if you think changing PM every 9 months provides stability then you might need to rethink.

0.3% on the month. 0.1% over 3 months (a rounding error). Essentially November's figure is very welcome, if we could have that every month please.

I wouldn’t get too overexcited by this, although that’s not to say it isn’t good news. There is the catch-up effect (helped by government assistance of course) plus the usual pre-Christmas splurge thrown in. Also, irrespective of cyber issues, the figures were more than a little unkind as to the reality in the months preceding. All a little like a team with healthy xG losing more than it should, then finally getting the results they deserve.

It’ll be interesting to see if it continues. Reeves seems to have weathered the worst, and is probably enjoying some respite from what’s been a challenging year for her. Her biggest problem right now is that the goose with the golden egg happens to be an orange one, and in a post-Brexit economy that’s unquestionably where Labour’s true growth opportunity always lay.

I was being semi sarcastic at the very least Hawks in celebrating this.

Although it must be said the prophets of doom who kept saying meltdown was around the corner seem to be operating in stopped clock territory
