Birmingham Equal Pay dispute settled

no figures released yet but it will be interesting to see how far away from the “forecast” (and I use that term lightly) £760m - which necessitated cuts to disabled kids transports, closed libraries and worsened Sofia care services - the final figure was.

Thankfully Max Caller had been installed on a grand a day to make sure it was handled well so it should be pretty close… meaning that no unnecessary suffering or widening of inequalities was caused.

It's the same as every payout will ensure be that equal pay, diesel claims or finance misselling claims. The end user will suffer because of them. One thing that does surprise me is that the equal pay claims only seem to appear in government bodies - I don't see too many private companies being challenged by groups when there is, IMO, evidence that women get paid less for similar roles

I really wish some of the money from the Ozzy concert could have gone to these causes instead. The permanent closure of Spring Hill library is such a massive loss to the area.

Who could have seen this coming?

Cuts wholly unnecessary. Max Caller wholly unnecessary.

Sounds like they used the accountants on here... question now has to be who stood to benefit from pushing through the section 114 notice.

Following an exclusive in the Brum Dispatch.  An excellent (online) paper.

Interesting.  Do you have any theories?

No theories, but a billion pound underestimate surely raises suspicion?
