Selles sacked - Wilder coming back....

What strange goings on. I get that they want to make a change but Wilder for a third spell after just potting him seems a bizarre decision.

Seems a lazy appointment to me.

Wilder has to be one of the most overrated managers going.

A promotion, some relative PL success, a 3rd place finish last season.
A harsh judgement.

Some managers work in some places. Very silly decision-making though and has probably cost them the automatics for this season.

Or the most predictable change, ever.

Took Sheff U from middling League One side to mid-table in the Prem in 4 seasons, before that took relegation threatened Northampton to the League 2 title in 1 and a bit seasons. Finished a comfortable 3rd with Sheff U last season despite going through a virtual complete summer rebuild on a comparative small budget compared to their immediate rivals and suffering several long-term injuries to key players, and were still only 10 minutes away from winning the play-off final.

Overrated though for sure.

I think he's a decent manager. My OP was more about them broadening their horizons when searching for a new manager. They didn't rate him enough in the summer when sacking him (harshly) so I don't see what's happened since to make them think he's any better than he was in July when they sent him on his holidays!

Once they've moved on from him they should continue looking elsewhere. Just looks like a very weak decision to bring him back. Also really don't know why he'd want to come back for a third spell so soon...
