There's a load of pretentious shit about "pairing malt with fine cuisine".  I avoid such shit but I was invited to be a guest at dinner a few years back in Edinburgh where the beverage was whisky.  I didn't want to decline as the host was generous but fuck me - IT DOESN'T WORK!!!  Good job there was a bottle of water.
