The embarrassing state of the press in football

Morecambe are likely to fold, there's significant doubts that Sheffield Wednesday will be able to fulfill their fixtures after a friendly was abandoned and players and staff still not being paid, again.

But no, even on a non-commercial news site like the BBC the focus is Isak.

Big thing on Sky Sports earlier about Isak arriving at the Newcastle training ground where the story was basically “man goes to work”.

You’d think Tim Burgess would know better.

What happened to the fit and proper persons test? It clearly isn't fit for purpose. Is it even a thing any more, if so, who is regulating these so-called tests?

They don't sell papers or generate clicks though - remember The Athletic dropping our dedicated reporter in the middle of the Lai issues whilst still churning out 10 stories a week on Wrexham who were in the National League!

What concerns me more is the disparity where big clubs in the Championship are valued at less than the cost big clubs are paying for their record signings.
For instance Grealish 4 years ago sold for £100m, a kid from Solihull valued at more than we were, with thousands upon thousands of supporters and a stadium of Prem quality.
All due to one relegation.
The likes of Bournemouth and Brentford are now bigger in the eyes of the money men.
