Atkinsons bar, back of Midland hotel

Any others used to use this?
I would quite often. Pre match, post match and during the week sometimes . I don't  think the beer was paticularly marvellous but was a great place to meet mates and atmosphere/environment was bloody great.
Think it closed about 1993.

NB note sentimental post as I have had quite a few Holdens summer buzz

Yes. It was a strange old place for a pre match beer but it’s fair to say the options were fairly limited in those days within any decent distance

Yes, options werent great back then. I think it was m and b, mon. Seemed to attract all sorts and in those days would have been full of smoke. Was very handy for a pint when getting out of New St station.

Nowadays I will only go where I like the ale. The Bathams was bostin in the Lamp, Dudley on Monday night.

Was that downstairs and opposite new street and the reggae shop? Went in there a few times in the mid-late 80s but, considering I drank everywhere in town those days, didn’t go in too often.

I went in there from 1988 until it shut.
