Only player I think would really miss out is Fellows. Not sure he'd be a better wing back than Furlong and I'm not convinced yet he's ettersuited to playing as a ten than Grady or Johnston.

He doesnt really do either side of the game very efficiently. But he's a really likeable player who runs around and grafts alot. They don't tell you what would have happened if someone hadn't ran around and grafted. I give you Wednesday away and Bournemouth away when the introduction of Molumby made a huge difference. In one we should have overturned a 2 goal deficit to get a result and in the other we actually had a stake in midfield where their interceptions and breakaways (or transition players as I believe they are called now!), were punishing us. It doesn't matter how derogatory Cantona was about water carriers, most sides need one. (01-29-2025, 09:08 PM)Lurker#3 Wrote:That's a little disrespectful for Molumby. Offensively he may not be effective (although, I'd argue breaking up an attack and playing a ball forward that begins a counter-attack as effective offensive play), but defensively he's such a great disrupter.(01-29-2025, 09:03 PM)Jacko Wrote:(01-29-2025, 05:05 PM)Lurker#3 Wrote: "On the leash" XI - The Stats/90... I'm not sure what the stats are like, and I'm in no way suggesting I'm some sort of oracle of football knowledge, but my eyes tell me he's key to this team, and I'd rather he was in our XI than against us.

Both Lurker and Josh are correct with polar opposite thoughts.
Molumby is a weird one, stats do not really convey what he does well in the team, and tbf, he doesn't do anything well as a footballer, he's not even a good defensive midfielder, he pushes forward too often and chases the ball like a starved yard dog. However he makes it hard for teams to play against us down the middle and if teams spend too long passing in their half of the pitch and get lazy with it, Molumby is there kicking their heels and forcing mistakes. I'd rather have him as an option than not, but as much as I like him, he's not in my first 11 for games we expect to win. |
