Watched the game back today that I recorded on my IPTV at the weekend.
Whilst we didn't progress the ball well enough at all, watching back I did pick up on some subtle changes that we seem to have made.
Furlong and Styles were narrowing up and playing as CMs in possession with Mowatt almost playing as a sweeper. That allowed Swift to get higher up in transition. So we had Grady supporting Fellows one side and Swift much closer to MJ in possession.
The problems were we didn't carry or pass the ball progressively enough and we need to be braver on the ball, more often than not passes were too square and we didn't move between the lines enough off the ball, Furlong and Styles aside. This is where Maja also helps as he falls into the half space between their defense and midfield.
Will be interesting to see if ToMo can work on our shape and approach on and off the ball, offensively and on transition this week.

Lurker. Thoughts on our best CM starting pair if we have everyone fit and are picking two?

I do worry that everyone has gotten very overexcited about Mowbray Ball, when the fact is we were playing a very, very poor team.

I also worry that we are getting very, very, very wet eyes over someone who wasn’t getting the best out of folk. Three of whom happened to score on Saturday.
Three of them.

Grady is the most important of those three. Mowbray is the first manager since Bilic than knows how how to work with what gets him ticking

It's only been one win?!
Absolutely happy to provide fulsome praise if we go only a lovely run of wins, but I will stand by my statement that I'm not sure a match against a team who completely lost their heads after they scored, with a goalkeeper doing his best Button impression is the colossal turning point that some think.
That's a rational statement. You can read it as often as you want.

I’m not saying we’re back in the Prem! Crikey, talk about what polarised opinion does to people.

Fact is he can't be properly judged yet... people were moaning at him after boro then the opposite after Pompey. Have a look after 10 games and we've played a good selection of teams to see how he's doing

We played and beat who was there to be played and beaten on Saturday. What else did you want, given your polar argument? Six goals?
We know progress is built over time. What is your begrudgement of someone who isn’t nice looking and Spanish achieving that for us?
