Interesting comment from Mogga post match

WM interview, when asked about how Wallace and Swift played Tony said something along the lines of "getting players to fall back in love with the game".

Suggesting all wasn't well under CC? I loved his attention to detail but maybe his scientific/data driven approach wasn't everyone's cup of tea?

There was some level of discontent some while back and it showed on the pitch. It was mainly to do with the robotic nature of things, constant intensity and lack of down time. The switch to Mowbray who has the ability to make individuals seen and motivated was always likely to produce a boost

If you read Mowbrays comments about the likes of Grady, the reference is fairly thinly veiled

There were a few threads a while ago comparing CC to the likes of Rafa in how meticulously he approaches games and the impact that can have on players that need a manager to trust them enough to allow them to express themselves.

Players like Swift and Wallace, who have had very solid and effective careers at this level potentially need more freedom than a Corberan side allows so it’ll be interesting to see how these guys progress. Regardless of how they perform between now and June, I’d still be looking to move Wallace on and let Swift leave this summer

It’s no different to any job - if it becomes mundane and you stop enjoying it or are micro managed, some people respond by being below par

I think it is more simple in that Wallace one Swift we’re not in the starting Eleven and for the first 5ish they were not automatic starters. As any pro they weren’t happy as expected.

It’s more than that, as he talks about directly here. And he’s spot on.

Went to the game with John P today pal.

Jed was fairly vocal and the issue was not enough days off and the total micro management.  Swift is close to Jed. This is the issue with CC - even had he stayed there would have been a shelf time to his management

Conversely of course you have to be careful with complaining players - especially when they were coasting under the useless twat preceding CC

We were very fortunate to not only part ways when we did but get £3m into the bargain. Some saw observing that as a slight on Carlos. It wasn’t. It was just the reality that the timing was better for us than people were able to take on board and the funds in the pot a massive bonus

TM also said that they shouldn't throw away two years of being well coached. I think there's a closer correlation between TM and CC than people will popularly give credit for, regarding style. TM has a technically decent group of players who are comfortable on the ball and are well coached in terms of shape. He acknowledges that, but also recognises you need to let players manage themselves at times , both on and away from the pitch.
