Lazy buggers - Get back to work!

I've told my boss that if the new CEO wants us back in then I'll have to leave and find a new job.

Bit late for that. If everyone at my place turned up to work in the office, more than half would be standing around waiting for somewhere to sit.

The idea of being in an office full of people I don't really care about (neither like or dislike), engaging in pointless small talk about weekends or holidays I've no interest in, fills me with dread and anxiety.

It always amazes me how the ones who are leading the call for their staff to come back to the office are usually the ones with their own private workspace, working equipment and furniture and the freedom to come and go as they please. They usually have a driver, and help at home.
Let’s see a CEO juggle running a household, childcare and commute, only to sit in an open office space scrapping for the only hot desks with a working chair, second screen or far enough away from Tracey who shouts down her headset on Teams all day. Working 5 days a week in an office from 9 to 5 worked fine when one parent went to work and one stayed at home. The modern world doesn’t work like that any more and any company that insists on it won’t be around in 20 years.

One of the joys of working for an organisation which has had to sell off most of its remaining office buildings to raise money is that I'll never have to go back to the utter pointlessness of office working ever again. Thank God for that.

Thing is that being in or out of the office has zero impact on my quality.of work or productivity. I am equally adept at doing the bare minimum in either environment.
