Watching Tom I don’t think he realises how good he is, I know he’s young and will get better and better ( hopefully with us) but hope TM can instill confidence in him and we’ll have a hell of a player

I'm also hopeful of the Mowbray influence on both Fellows and Mikey. He certainly improved both Roberts and Clarke at Sunderland. Now Fellows has started varying whether he cuts in or goes on the outside, he's becoming more potent. Just need him to add a few more goals to his locker.

If he can become effective at this as well he will take some stopping

I would like to see him make more out to in runs behind the fullback/CB. He used to do it quite often but seems he always wants ball to feet recently.
I get he wants to be involved. But his sharpness and movement beyond the last line needs to improve.

FWIW, both Fellows and Grady ran on beyond quite a few times yesterday, unfortunately no one gave them a ball. Fellows actually does it a lot but our defenders prefer the straightforward 10 yard pass.

Fellows is an exceptional talent and there is more in the locker. I don’t think it’s a bad thing that we haven’t seen it all yet - he’s nicely sailing under the radar of a lot of would-be suitors.
There are elements of his game he can improve upon (his decision making when centring the ball yesterday was sub-par at times) but that’s a small gripe. Like his opposite flanker he is working hard to mix his game up, and I’m really looking forward to watching both develop under the almost forensic approach of Mowbray. Tom Fellows is a player who when he gets the ball you will often piss off the spectator behind for. More of the same would be brilliant.

Yes, he has room for improvement, but he fits very much into the Enjoy Him While We've Got Him category for me.

I also think he could do with mixing it up by learning to whip in early balls to

If Fellows starts sticking the ball in the net, he could be worth 40million.

Prem clubs expect their wingers and wide forwards to score goals often, and he just doesn't, whether that's the team he's in right now or an inability to do so on his behalf, to make it as high as the rest of his technique and ability shows, he needs to work on scoring goals, he should be on 5 or 6 by now. |
