The view from the opposition - Stoke
#1
Anyone gnashing their teeth about three points dropped yesterday, will not feel any better after reading this. Didn't realise Stoke were only two points above the relegation zone. We really should have bettered them.

We've beaten the Baggies more than any other team, just saying...

Want us to win this for blatantly obvious reasons - we need it. (duh) But also this "hoodoo" we have over WBA needs to continue.
It provides ammunition for complicated Oatcake "conspiracy" theories that would make entertaining reading.
Example: Kitson was framed for everything by a sleeper-cell of WBA saboteurs who tunneled in and weakened the supports for the Butler Street stand just prior to a wind-storm. The mission had financial ties to Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, former leader of a corrupt regime well known for financing terrorism and using cells from other terror-groups to carry out strikes. Karma is a bitch.
But seriously, we need to have somebody that we routinely beat, I don't care how we get there.

Drawn half of their league games so far, I would be happy enough with a point.

We have to stop Fellows and Johnston if we’re to get anything tomorrow

Whoever is marking Johnston is going to have a tough day, hope it's junior cause I don't think Stephens will have the legs.

Ref = wba fan

That West Brom free kick was a shocking decision
Molumby terrible miss there

Bit fortunate to be winning but West Brom are a quality side particularly on both flanks.

WBA co commentator is like some amateur loon from Sky Sports Fan Zone.

This is wank getting absolutely bummed by these

Really poor today.
If we escape with a point it’s a great result.

Bloody good result regardless if we do.

21 shots to our 5.
Another game where we’ve been battered.
Really do worry for us this season.
West Brom away is a tough fixture though

Take the point any day right now.

our game management has been atrocious in the second half yet again. Surely we're capable of managing the game better than we are? We've been absolutely battered second half a deserve to lose never mind draw.

Honestly, 2nd half I see no difference in approach from Pelach.

Grateful for the point but excruciating to watch last 30

Fought hard slightly lucky they couldn't get a decent shot on target

I'll take that all day, was expecting a fairly comfy 2-0 home win.

They attacked a lot but most of their efforts ended up well wide or comfortable enough. A couple of near misses

Yes take that point, yes they did batter us but we didn’t lose somehow so happy. Robins not made any difference yet though.

A deserved back-to-the-wall draw but West Brom were a Maja short of a bagful.

Looking at the highlights they didn't create many ,if any real clear cut chances, Molumby aside. Davros would have stuck that one away but a goal was always coming with the amount of ball in the last third.

Great point today, hung on when we were outclassed 2nd half.

Their “hoodoo” hasn’t existed for 20 years. They were a safe 6 points every season for us in recent times.

Aye, in the last 30 meetings (going back to Mogga v Pulis) they've won 11 and we've won 11. In the last 20 meetings they've won 5 and we've won 10.

Comments on the ref are a weird one. I didn’t really notice anything going for or against us either way

Basically whoever had Pulis in the dugout won.

Since he departed it’s been a run of the mill fixture.

It's weird though, but it still feels like they do have a hoodoo over us, even though the results say it's long since gone.

I suppose it was similar to how we would always beat Blues...

He had a five minute spell of giving them very little and us a fair few 50:50s, hence their chant “we’ve got another shit ref” towards the end of the first half. But I agree - he seemed largely fair and no-one who went in the book for either side can complain.

Other that that, it’s quite interesting to read how realistic Stoke fans are given the above summary. I think Squid is right in that that was a three points that should have been taken, but - once again - when you decide to go into a season with one fit and established goalscorer…

Heard a couple of people mention this is a derby?! Does anyone (other than Stoke fans) give them a second thought apart from when we're playing them?

Nope.

Its only a derby to those that have clay in their fingernails.
