One of the biggest importers of eastern European goods to the UK, sending more than 70 lorries every week and supplying 1,000 businesses, said the government needed to be clearer on what a consignment meant and to alert companies that they were facing costs much higher than £145.

The company, which preferred not be named, said some of its trucks would now have to pay £1,500 (€1,750) extra to cover the costs, an increase of about 60% on the €3,000 it usually costs to transport goods to the UK.

Cheers Proth and co - can’t wait to see the money eventually rolling our way, in 2165

I mentioned this earlier, the rules are absolutely crippling to small importers essentially charging them the same for one pallet as a full order for a larger importer.

Like, if you're a cheese shop and you order in a small quantity of various cheeses you are going to be charged £145 for it whereas Tesco importing bulk parmesan gets the same £145, that's fucking stupid.

It’s just cos they’ve done Brexit the wrong way mate. Honestly. If they’d done it right it would be great.

This on top of a load of small boats full of people that could be returned to France previously and now need to be flown to Rwanda.

Real visionary stuff it is.

When Proth tries to tell you we can’t afford to look after people, and that he has all the economic answers just remember he voted for this, not only that he campaigned fervently for it.

Alleged? Inflation is pretty indisputable. Tesco's revenue increased at a rate that is below inflation anyway
