Burnley and Sheffield United

Both about to have relegation confirmed, and both on deep financial trouble. Burnley in particular because of the crazy way that their takeover was funded, loading big debt on the club and with huge repayments to be made on relegation.

Even with parachute payments those two clubs will be very unlikely to dominate the Championship next year.

Also, sometimes when relegation is likely, maybe it would be better to keep the manager that got you up in the first place? Like we did with SGM.

We (the club) made it very clear that when we first went up we wouldn’t spend millions and that the intention was to in all likelihood go down and build again for a second promotion under Megson. Some of our fans deny this but it was the plan. Seems a very sensible one compared to most.

I suspect Kompany won’t be at Turf Moor next season.

Wilder might well be the best person to manage Blades in the Championship

It is indeed a sensible one - Luton have pretty much done that this season and might well stay up.

Should've done the same with Bilic instead of giving BFS our money.

Burnley have £70M of debt, with accelerated repayment in the event of relegation - put another way the parachute repays the debt. They might be able to restructure the debt like we did with MSD. Another club sold for more than they were worth.

Sheffield have legacy transfer problems. I agree both will have a difficult time for a couple of seasons. Don't forget they only receive 2 seasons parachute payments.

No Bilic was done. He would not have taken us back up.

If I understood correctly, Burnley were (effectively) bought with their own money. Never a good way to do things for the club concerned, but a great deal for the new owner.  A practise which could really be seen coming from a long way off and prevented by the F.A.

Agree. Also the amount spent on Allardyce was peanuts compared to Grant and Diangana; Bilic's signings

Absolutely correct.  It worked for Man United, but they were never in danger of relegation

It certainly enhances our chances next season if we are still in the Championship
