Mikey Johnston

What a player - definitely in the Harvey Barnes, rather than Marc Albrighton/Jeremy Sarmiento bucket of loan signings.

Surely it’s time to dust off the ‘Willie Johnston on the wing’ song for Mikey. Let’s enjoy it while we still have him

We need to keep quiet about him Big Grin

Anybody know if we have an option to sign him. He is 25 next month and has
spent a long time at Celtic, without playing very often. We should be pointing
out to the Celtic hierarchy that the Championship is inferior to the Scottish Premier
League and that he would not do well up there!

I would say there's a good chance of us signing him, expecially if we were to get promoted. He's 24 and not getting many games for Celtic; I don't think it's an unrealistic signing.

There’s no option in place to sign him

According to Transfermarkt, he’s contracted to Celtic until June 2026, so there would be a significant fee.  A stretch for us but not for others!

Not if they don’t want him, which seemingly they don’t

Someone get a message to Mikey and suggest he tells Celtic he signed his contract under duress and has thrown his toys out of the cot.

Lots of vitriol as well as praise towards him on the Celtic forums.

Many wish him well and hope he continues to score as that will net them around £10 million if we want to buy.

Others call him a one trick pony - cut in from the left and shoot with is right,  and he will soon be rumbled by defenders.

Others say he was unlucky with injuries and just needed a run of games and wish him well.

Others say that we play in a pub league and he is prospering due to the lower standard of player that he is up against.

Others would not have him back at any cost as he more than enough chances to prove himself.

Others note that in the Championship teams have a go at each other which creates opportunities and space, whereas Celtic's opposition park the bus in every game.

One thing missing from the usual  black vs white debate, is the change in the coach.

CC is a proper coach and will spend time with Johnston helping him to develop his game and tactical awareness.

Rodgers is a fucking idiot and will spend his time with his mates in the Press.
