Point?

I never said previous ones haven't, just saying now for us it has to be an absolute key part of the interview and contract renewal process.

RDM - Wood
Roy - O’Neil
Clarke - Berahino, Izzy Brown
Pulis - Field, Leko
Moore - Tulloch, Rodgers, Harper, Edwards

O'Neil was under Pepe Mel at Swansea.

Pulis seemed to use playing younger players primarily as a means to put pressure on senior management to bring in new players.

Moore and Clarke seemed to be the most willing to trust in young players even for meaningful matches - worked out well for them didn't it?

I agree with Birdman, the ability to maximise the most from the current crop of academy players should be a priority requirement for any new manager/head coach, but that would require taking a long term view and that's not something senior management at the club or indeed the majority of fans are prepared to do.

It’s a bit unreliable to compare eras really. There wasn’t the standard of players coming through to throw into Prem games 5,6,7yrs ago. Berahino was the exception at the time. DM has played young players in a division lower, whether over a season they would have been regulars is open to debate if we were in a higher division.

Managers average tenures are what 18mths? The consistency and insistence if the club wishes to pursue the policy of blooding youngsters should lie with DoF and be agreed by those above and it should be made clear by the club that is the policy. Otherwise you’re hanging the manager out to dry.

More so when you consider how many foreign imports there are now, not just in the Prem.

Perhaps the only positive if we don't go up this season is that the youngsters will almost certainly be a feature of our team next season. That won't be the case if we do go up.
