When it was suggested inflation busting wage rises for workers was a Brexit benefit not a inflationary problem as it’s now described by the same commentators and politically minded.
When I was told water companies pushing sewage into our rivers and seas was ok and that leaks were just too darn difficult to fix without pushing prices up. Turns out senior managers can earn millions and shareholders can receive very generous dividends despite abject failure to address either pollution or leaks.
That the most memorable thing Liz Truss was infamous for was Cheese and Pork markets and a book that criticises the U.K. workforce. Turns out she’s going to be our next Prine Minister!
When I was one of the only people saying we were circling the drain and then that well known leftie Matthew Parris writing in the well known left wing Times writes… "Ah well. Under Boris Johnson we’ve been circling the plughole for a long time. Under Liz Truss we may get to see what the drains look like."
That wealth would trickle down to the poorest in society and thus make it more equal, turns out we have an ever increasing gap between rich and poor.
That lying on an unprecedented scale wasn’t a problem politically, turns out that Prime Ministers can get forced out of office for it, but only when others in the same party fear they will lose their seat at the next election.
I’m sure there are lots more things I’m old enough to have forgotten…
