A whole universe exists of which I have no knowledge.

A bike?

We have some right cocks on here.

I suppose the Glazers and ESL are the fault of the coppers who have now been injured.

This kind of thing can't be justified under any circumstances. "Peaceful protest" is so often invaded and escalated by idiots who like a bit of a scrap. Or maybe some of them thought they could delay the title being awarded to Man City.

Points deduction for Man Utd would be hilarious. Surely they have a duty to provide a safe environment for the match to be played?

If I was doing an accident investigation as part of the job I do both would be part of my root cause analysis findings

I've seen the most peaceful people be turned into a seething savages due to police actions down Halfords Lane after a night game against the Dingles. It was the police that wanted a scrap that evening

It's the easiest thing in the world to make the police the bad guys every time anything kicks off. Truth is there are people on both sides who like to get involved. Just human nature.

My brother was a copper in Manchester for 30 years dating back to the Moss Side riots in 1981, so maybe I've seen and heard more of both sides than many people. Funnily enough our sister (his twin) was very socialist and married a proper eco-warrior. They were always at anti-fracking protests and the like. I often wondered what Christmas dinners were like (they were very close) - did politics and policing ever get mentioned?

He tells a good tale about going to Stockport vs Hereford with his brother-in-law after Hereford were promoted back to the League. The Hereford fans got the usual police marshalling "keep walking son" - "but my car's parked over there" etc. Eventually he whipped his warrant card out and introduced himself (working in a senior role for Professional Standards at the time). Afterwards he told me "I didn't mind him hitting me with his baton or making us walk to the station. Just doing his job. I didn't mind him calling me a cunt. It was when he said 'Fuck off back to Hereford' that I took offence".
