Modern Police Cells have all ligature points removed nowadays, as well as anything the occupant can use. Cells are engineered to have all corners, sharp edges etc removed. All items that can be removed are not accessible - Taps/flushboxes/light fittings etc etc etc. However the desire for someone to take their own lives can never be fully removed and the smashing off your own head is one of those acts that is increasingly common especially as the Police find themselves more and more the dumping ground for people with psychiatric issues.

Also handy if you want to be claiming that you suffer from mental health issues and therefore are not fit to stand trial/pleading manslaughter due to diminished responsibility.
