Excellent film on netflix, about a black civil rights campaigner and a kkk leader becoming friends over a school integration project.

I watched what I assume is a very similar plot over the weekend, The Railway Man.

Nicole Kidman is gorgeous. Colin Firth is as good as ever. But the film treatment somehow fails to really break your heart.

That is not to diminish the true horror of the story, especially as it is true.

This is recommended viewing for anyone affected by Ms Markel's terrible ordeal. It might give some perspective on true suffering and forgiveness.

Having seen both, they are nothing like each other. 

One changes his long held racist outlook and one forgives his torturers after suffering for years from it's brutality. 

Both good films though. I like the underrated Sam Rockwell and he played a similar redneck in 3 billboards, another good film imo.
