In fairness, if we go down before Lai gets a buyer, I can well see him sacking Dowling or at the very least Dowling having to do some serious pleading to keep his job. Lai (or whoever it is who makes the decisons) doesn't like failure and isn't slow to sack someone.

Except for Nicky Hammond and Alan Pardew.

It was apparently Jenkins who delayed sacking Pardew, even after Hammond said he should go.

Hammond was quietly sacked after we were relegated. He must have been hiding in a cupboard when Williams and Goodman was sacked.
