I'm keen to understand whether any of you are actually aware of the way the EU has undermined the foundations of its biggest project. It seems not.
In stead of chanting the phrase “any of you actually aware of the way the EU has undermined “ why don’t you just make those you suspect of “ being unaware” familiar by quoting examples. Gain saying is not the way to get your point over let alone win an argument.

He doesn't want to get into the argument JOK because he knows it is flimsy at best. You can get all of his points from reading the Daily Express as well.

And so as this thread doesn't descend into a Brexit argument can we keep the comments around the EU to the Brexit thread please.

Week 36 (to the 4th September) looks like a massive week in terms of turning a corner which appears completely at odds with the last weeks news. The total deaths for the week in England and Wales was 7,739 compared with 9,695 in 2019 and 9,182 as the 5YA - that is 20% down and would add weight to the 'averaging out' theory. Of course it could be a blip but for E&W it brings the excess deaths down by nearly 2k to 61k against 2019 and 53k against the 5YA.

More up to date data is showing in increase in admissions to hospital (205 for E&W on the 11th), the highest since the start of July, the numbers in hospital is also increasing slowly and stands at about 1,000 but again the figures for all of the UK are only up to the 11th and England (the only one with figures) has increased since then. There are a handful more people on ventilators but still under 100 across the whole of the UK. It is frustrating that at this point in time, when stats are really important that you would think they would make sure the gov website is up to date, not nearly a week behind.

Overall though the news is positive, albeit delayed by a week. It is confusing about these local lockdowns when there are so few admissions to hospital in that region. According to the stats there are only 157 patients in hospital across the 'Midlands' as of yesterday, and of those 21 on ventilators.

The government couldn't have fucked this up more if they would have tried - lockdown at the wrong time originally and again at a very strange time if you read the stats. The problem with the stats is that they have changed the meaning of them (to suit their stories) at many times during this pandemic leaving the only 'real' stat as the excess deaths (which no-one seems to talk about any more).

I agree with your sentiments. There is no way they could have fucked this up more - and they are making things up to suit their agenda.

I like the BBC most of the time.
Except for all the coverage they give Farage.
And Kuenssberg.

Ok so you can catch these by someone coughing on you?

Maybe one of the 23 more potent threats could be but all of them will be magnified in nature by having much fewer people seeking medical help earlier on in the onset of their malady.

Oh well, as long as you and Bromsgrove are alright...

Let’s ignore and leave to their fate the other areas of the country where cases are shooting up, hospital admissions rising and the seven day average of deaths has doubled.

I don’t think the majority on this bored are “scared sh*tless”, just pragmatic and considerate of others.

Oh, by the way, there isn’t a magic invisible wall around precious Bromsgrove that the virus cannot get through. Shortly, it will reach there and people people there will start to suffer and either have long term effects or die. Still, your gold and gilts can’t catch it.
I know the economy needs to be oiled but there is a fine line to be found to keep thousands safe. Yes thousands, are you happy to allow all those families miseries just so you can go to a pub?
