56 man that’s a proper tough age to digest that.
Having seen it first hand twice in the past 4 years it’s a bloody life changing event however fortunate or not the person is in when it’s caught and treated

Despite the crap and occasional bile I read on here, threads like this usually bring out the ‘real’ persona in people. Credit to you all who’ve replied with kind words and it’s noticeable how many families unfortunately suffer from the devestation of a stroke. Condolences to all those on here you have.
So thanks and respect for the thread to Lightnin and those who’ve posted. Appreciate it

Absolutely horrible news. I've literally been at a funeral this morning for my wife's uncle who has died from a massive stroke so the timing of this news is particularly pertinent.
Thankfully it sounds like he had quick medical intervention. That coupled with his age and health should hopefully mean a sound recovery. No age at all.

Hopefully he makes a full recovery. 56 is no age and it's in a way it's good that they have identified it early to get it treated.

Good luck to him, as said speedy intervention is essential, so hopefully a full recovery.

All the best to Mr Wagner, I hope he makes as full a recovery as possible.

Just awful. Wishing him a speedy recovery and it's really good they got to him quickly. He looks like a pretty healthy guy so it could happen to anyone.

I've witnessed first hand how devastating a stroke can be. My nan suffered an acute stroke about 2012, and was subsequently left disabled, and required my mom to give up her full time job to become her full time carer.
Watching my nan in an unconscious state, not knowing if she'd pull through was devastating, and I broke down at the time. Seeing her paralysed and knowing she'd need full time care was another devastating blow. Watching my mom struggle with being a full time carer, and seeing how it slowly destroyed their relationship over the years was yet another devastating, slow, and cruel blow. It's just vile, and I wouldn't wish any of the above on anyone. It not only destroyed my nans way of life, but also destroyed mom and to a lesser extent, but still devastatingly enough, my auntie. It's part of the reason why I felt some relief, in a shit guilty way, when nan died - at least mom and my auntie have their lives back now. |
